The Orchard

Up on the hill, just before you reach the meadow, you'll pass through an old crab apple orchard, planted by Dr. Munger.  The orchard was famous, not for its fruit, but because every year when the trees bloomed, the Mungers would through their famed Crab Party to celebrate the crabapple blooms and the rest of the garden in all its glory.  Since then, the Crab Party has been moved to better accommodate weather patterns in the area, but the party is still just as spectacular, and the trees are just as gorgeous when they do bloom.

Further up the hill is an old apple orchard.

In the fall of 2007, volunteers planted new fruit trees in an area adjacent to these orchards.
