WASTEWATER SOURCE

Munger Lodge hosts thousands of visitors every year.  Most are here for a short time.  Others, here for events, such as workshops and fieldtrips, will “use the restroom” and wash their hands. A few volunteer workers may even take showers and baths.   Some will come for an event that includes food and food preparation requires lots of water.  The staff uses Munger Lodge as their second home.  Then there is the water used to keep Munger Lodge clean – washing windows, walls, floors, etc.  All this water goes down the drain, but it would be irresponsible (and illegal) just to put it in or on the ground.  Can you think of three reasons it would be “irresponsible?”

The Boxerwood board and staff, experts and engineers, and generous supporters made the NEWTS (Nature-Emulating Waste Treatment System) possible.  Follow the water through the system and discover how people and nature can cooperate.
